No Wii Production Increase for the Holidays
October 26th, 2007
It doesn’t look like it’s going to be any easier to find a Wii during the holiday season than it’s been since its release. Not that this should surprise anyone, but Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said that the company will not even be increasing production.
Apparently the company is having trouble getting new manufacturing plants up and running for whatever reason, and with demand already so strong, who knows when this demand will slow down.
“The ability to ramp up production and to sustain it is not a switch that you flick on,” Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aime recently said. “We’re working very hard to make sure that consumers are satisfied this holiday, but I can’t guarantee that we’re going to meet demand. As a matter of fact, I can tell you on the record we won’t.”
Nintendo is intending to keep monthly production at 1.8 million units a month.
