Is Wii Boredom Setting in?

GamePro points to mention of a report from Japanese video Game publisher Enterbrain’s president Hirokazu Hamamura who claims that 67% of Wiis in Japan are rarely being played anymore; reasoning cited for this being lack of another Wii Sports-style hit.
I have not seen any such statistics of Wii activity in the U.S. or anywhere else, but I have heard a couple people say that they haven’t been playing their Wii’s very much lately.
Has the initial awe of the revolutionary controls worn off already? Perhaps to some that have been lucky enough to own a Wii for a while, but the appeal doesn’t seem to have worn off for all of the people who can’t get their hands on one because they’re never in stock.
